CS stands for Central Service , CST is a Central Service Technician. SPD stands for  Sterile Processing & Distribution, SPDT stands for Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician .  Both are common names for the same profession.  As for what they do, well it would be easier to give you a list of what they don't do.  The Central Service / Sterile Processing Department is the Area in the Healthcare Facility that Cleans, Decontaminates, Assembles, Inspects, Packages, Sterilizes, Stores both sterile & non-sterile instruments and supplies, Distributes, and oversees Inventory Control and Cost Management. 

 

Sterilization

 

 This is the area in the Central Service / Sterile Processing Department where Prepared & Packaged (Processed) Surgical Instruments or Trays are Sterilized.

This is the area in the Central Service / Sterile Processing Department where used (Dirty) Surgical Instruments are sent to be cleaned and decontaminated.  This renders the Instruments safe for handling and further processing.

Decontamination

 This is the area in the Central Service / Sterile Processing Department where Decontaminated (Clean) Instruments are (Processed) Assembled, Inspected, Packaged and prepared for Sterilization.  This area is known as Processing or Prep & Pack.

This area in the Central Service / Sterile Processing Department is where Sterilized Instruments, Trays & Supplies are stored in an environmentally controlled environment. 

Online SPD Class starting  October 2020


Morning Classes:  9:00 am - 12:00 pm  Tuesdays

Evening Classes:  6:00 pm -  9:00 pm   Tuesdays



Classes are one day a week for approximately 24 weeks. 

Total Cost is $700 ($100 Deposit and ONLY $25 a week).


Seating is Limited to 12 students per class.
